“The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible.” — David Viscott
For seven months, a friend and I have been committed to praying together for the needs of our friends, ourselves, and family members.
Little by little, I mark off the list – my mom got a job, my friend got a job, their business is growing. But those big areas, the ones that require a mighty move by God, have not been marked off.
Why is this couple still dealing with infertility? Why is this friend going through another round of chemo therapy? Why is the house not selling? Why is this relationship not repaired?
As I was reading Romans 4, I uncovered the answer to my “why’s”.
God promised that Abraham and his descendants would possess the whole earth. This promised was not based on something he did, but rather his faith in God.
Abraham entered his promise when he believed.
The answer is believing. I have been spinning my wheels like the hamster in the hamster wheel. Running in circles, feverishly praying, but not seeing the results I am looking/praying for.
I realized that my prayers were merely words uttered off a page and could only be brought to life by believing. So, I went back through my prayer journal and started reading over my prayers and speaking belief over them.
- We will be friends again.
- My book will be published.
- They will pursue a relationship with Christ.
and so on and so on…
Mark 11:24 says, “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
What are you looking for today? Do you have the faith to believe it is possible?
