The perfect storm…

Standard

My family recently experienced a severe ice storm. The kind where you lose power, water, and the conveniences of everyday life. My cousin was reflecting on the day and spoke of how the ice paralyzed and even destroyed some of the trees in her yard. She said that sometimes our lives are like that. One minute we are rock solid and the next minute we are broken into tiny pieces. We are standing on top of the world and brought to our knees the very next second. In lieu of recent events, I find myself caught in a storm that feels like it could easily destroy me. The pain is more than I can bare. Still, I find the strength to go on. I call out to my father, my God, my prince of peace!

I have always heard that God never gives us more than we can handle, but in this certain situation I do not find that to be true. God has finally revealed the truth (His truth) to me. God never gives us more temptation that we can bear, but He does give us trials and tribulations. In 2 Corinthians 1:8-10, Paul writes of his troubles. He said that he was under great pressure beyond anything he could endure. In his heart, he felt like it was a sentence of death.

God allows this to happen to us so we will seek Him. He takes us to deep water not to drown us, but to humble us for greater things. Just as God delivered Paul, He will deliver us. We must keep putting one foot in front of the other and pressing on towards the finish!
